Day 1 - Friday 29 September 2017 Own arrangements to Toowoomba
Arrive at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport in Toowoomba. (Flights are not included). Meet our courtesy coach for your transfer to your motel. Own arrangements. Accommodation tonight is not included. Please contact Go See Touring for accommodation and airfare options.
Day 2 - Saturday 30 September 2017 (L, D) Toowoomba to Roma
Depart early this morning at 7.00am to commence our Longreach Tour travelling via Dalby. Travelling on the Moonie Highway to the Tara turn off where we have our roadside morning tea. We continue onto Meandarra where we visit the Meandarra RSL war museum. Mid-day lunch today is at the Meandarra Hotel. We then travel to Glenmorgan where we visit Monty’s Garage. This turns the clock back to the 40s and 50s with an original garage along with some vintage cars. We continue onto Surat where we visit the Surat Cobb & Co Museum, to celebrate the last Cobb & Co coach that ran in Australia in 1924. Roma is our destination tonight staying at the Motel Carnarvon. Before we call it a day we have a guided town tour, evening meal and we visit the Big Rig Gas, Water and Light Show.
Day 3 - Sunday 01 October 2017 (B, L, D) Roma to Blackall / Mitchell Tour / Tambo Teddies
We depart our motel after breakfast for Mitchell; Once again a local guide thrills us with a two hour town tour. We continue onto Morven for a self-paced tour of their village museum. Here we find the only Kerosene Tin House that we know of in Australia, these were common during the depression years. Augathella is our Lunch time stop. Our next stop is Tambo and the famous Tambo Teddies and a short walk for a burger at Fanny Macs Cafe. The Coolabah Motel Blackall, is our motel for tonight and where we will have dinner. meal tonight.
Day 4 - Monday 02 October 2017 (B,L,D) Blackall Tour – Barcaldine – Longreach / Hall of Fame Show
This morning is spent in Blackall with a local identity Stewy Benson. Visiting The Black Stump, The Jacky Howe Statue, The Eagle, Eagles nest, town bore, and much more. We will enjoy a tour through the only steam operated Woolscour (Wool Wash) that is complete in Australia. Lunch today is at the Woolscour before continuing onto Barcaldine and the Tree of Knowledge and the Workers Museum. We will stay 6 nights at the Jumbuck Motel Longreach. Before we call it a day in Longreach we attend the Hall of Fame evening show, our evening meal is at the Hall of Fame.
Day 5 - Tuesday 03 October 2017 (B,L,D) School of the Air Tour/Dinner at Woolshed restaurant
We start the day with a Western breakfast and visit to the School Of The Air and a conducted tour of the facility. From there it is the Hall of Fame day time show and midday lunch is at the Hall of Fame. We are here for the rest of the day. Our evening meal tonight is at the Woolshed restaurant.
Day 6 - Wednesday 04 October 2017 (B, L, D) Winton Day Tour
Departing Longreach at 7.00am we travel to Winton. Enjoy morning tea and a tour through “The Age of the Dinosaur”. Prior to our lunch at the Tatts Hotel we visit the Musical Fence, Ome Wall and the Chinese Gardens. After lunch we can stroll down the main street of Winton with the opportunity for some retail therapy arriving at the Waltzing Matilda museum. Later we return to Longreach for a pool side BBQ evening meal.
Day 7 - Thursday 05 October 2017 (B, L, D) No Go Station/Sunset boat cruise & dinner
A 7.45am start with a town tour and a morning at No Go Station, famous as the departure place for Redfern’s journey south with 1000 stolen cattle and a big white bull. Return to Longreach for our mid-day lunch. A tour of the cemetery walk and talk. Tonight we have a Sunset boat cruise on the Thomson river (a very clean river note; No “P” in Thomson,) followed by an entertaining evening and a hearty bushman’s meal.
Day 8 - Friday 06 October 2017 (B, L, D) Powerhouse Museum/Old time tent show
This morning is spent looking back into history we visit the Longreach Powerhouse museum. Our midday lunch today is a Billycan meal while we watch an old time tent show. A highlight of this tour is a 45 minute Stage Coach Ride on part of the old Cobb & Co Longreach to Winton run. Evening meal is at a local leading restaurant.
Day 9 - Saturday 07 October 2017 (B, L, D) Lunch at Museum/Jumbo Tour/Camden Park Station
This is our morning to shop, an opportunity to check out the Longreach shops and to support the locals. Morning tea is at the Merino Bakery. Midday, lunch today is at the Qantas Founders Museum. After lunch we tour the Jumbo aeroplane and have our photo taken standing in an engine bay. The remainder of the day we spend exploring the history of Qantas. Our evening meal tonight is at Camden Park Station under the stars.
Day 10 - Sunday 08 October 2017 (B, L, D) Longreach to Charleville/Dinner/Bilby Centre visit
We say good bye to Longreach and start the homeward journey. We will stop off at Blackall for morning tea and Augathella for lunch. While in Augathella we visit the Big Ant, the wrought iron structures and the “Smiley’s Wall”. Our accommodation and evening meal tonight is the Mulga Inn Motel at Charleville. Tonight we visit the “Bilby Centre” and then we go star gazing at the Cosmos centre.
Day 11 - Monday 9 October 2017 (B, L, D) Charleville Tour / Mystery World War 2 Tour / Roma
Starting today with a town tour of Charleville by a local guide followed by a mystery World War 2 tour. Lunch today is at Morven. Mitchell is our next stop for a dip in the hot springs pool. Tonight we will stay at Motel Carnarvon. This evening dinner is at the Club Hotel.
Day 12 - Tuesday 10 October 2107 (B, L, D) Roma / Miles / Toowoomba
After breakfast it is a pleasant drive to Miles and a morning at the Miles Village Museum. It is a museum of some 20 buildings that make up a village of yesterday. Lunch today is at the Rose Cafe at the village. Tonight’s accommodation and evening meal are in Toowoomba.
Day 13 - Wednesday 11 October 2017 (B) Departure Day
Homeward bound we transfer you from your motel to local Toowoomba Airport, Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport and bid you all a safe journey home with memories of an unforgettable outback experience!
