Day 1 – Thursday 26 July 2018 (D) Depart Adelaide – Arrive Sydney
On arrival in Sydney Transfer by shuttle to your hotel which is located only minutes away from Sydney Airport. Relax and enjoy dinner at your hotel Accommodation: Holiday Inn Sydney or similar.
Day 2 – Friday 27 July 2018 (B, D) Depart Sydney 9:50AM Arrive Norfolk 1:20PM/Night as a Convict
Early breakfast at the hotel this morning. The hotel shuttle will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight to Norfolk Island. Passengers departing from Sydney will meet the group at Sydney Airport. On arrival on Norfolk you need to collect your checked luggage and clear customs and immigration. Once in the main terminal you will be met by our local ground operator – Pinetree Tours and transferred to The Paradise Hotel and Resort. The Paradise Hotel and Resort is nestled in 11 acres of beautifully landscaped sub-tropical gardens. The hotel is situated in a prime location on Queen Elizabeth Avenue, close to many tourist attractions and museums and the Burnt Pine Shopping Centre is only a 10-minute walk away. Enjoy a welcome Islander fruit cocktail on arrival before checking into your rooms. Enjoy a welcome Tropical fruit cocktail on arrival before checking into your rooms. Tonight is Night as a Convict. A fun night out for all ages. Dress as a convict and join in with the Commandant for an evening of gaiety, feasting, singing and dancing. Great food and great fun. (Outfits supplied).
Day 3 – Saturday 28 July 2018 (B, D) Half Day Orientation Tour/Dinner at La Perouse/Wonderland by Night
Pinetree Tours Half Day Orientation Tour is a must for every visitor. Visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and much more. See and hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches and golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, local Government laws and lifestyle. Enjoy views from scenic spots on this full commentary conducted tour. Morning tea is included. Lunch today is own arrangements and the rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner tonight is a 2-course dinner at your hotel. After dinner the setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk pines and bushland lit up like an enchanted forest. Meander along (or ride in the 'moon buggy') a gentle winding path whilst a descendant of one of the Bounty mutineers recites poetry written by local poet Archie Bigg. The dioramas are lit up and the setting is magical. Afterwards enjoy a light supper.
Day 4 – Sunday 29 July 2018 (B, D) Glass Bottom Boat Tour/Fletcher’s Fate
Day 5 – Monday 30 July 2018 (B, D) 4WD Tour/’A Little Bit Country’The morning is at leisure and lunch is own arrangements. Today you’ll head out in the 4WD You’ll love this exciting 3-hour tour to parts of Norfolk only accessible by 4WD. Climb aboard the 18-seater 4 x 4 bus for a state of the art Norfolk experience. Enjoy air-conditioned comfort and safety as you enjoy authentic insights into Norfolk’s unexplored valleys, ridges, coastlines and private properties. Don’t expect a rough race through the scrub. Drivers are conscientious and very knowledgeable. Morning tea is included and don’t forget your camera. Tonight, after dinner at one of Norfolk’s hotels, your host performs alongside of Rodney Vincent and Fortunato Isgro. Rodney is a great favourite on the Australian entertainment scene and has a great following. You will enjoy his great mix of songs and laughter. And more than a little bit country we have a little bit of wonderful variety from Fortunato Isgro, who is an entertainer from Brisbane renowned for his strong vocals, extensive repertoire and great versatility. Lucky Starr is the man who has been everywhere and a great stalwart of the Australian music industry. A fabulous night’s entertainment is assured.
Day 6 – Tuesday 31 July 2018 (B, D) Convict Settlement Tour/Island Fish FryThe morning is at leisure and lunch is own arrangements. Join Pinetree Tours on an in-depth tour of the historic Georgian Settlement of Kingston. Walk through the cemetery and hear the history of interesting convict and colonial headstones and hear stories of the houses along Quality Row. Walk through the ruins of the new gaol; see the Pier Store, boat shed and the crank mill. Afternoon tea is included. Late this afternoon enjoy a feast of Island dishes, salads, homemade bread & fresh fried fish, followed by Island desserts & tea or coffee. Enjoy some local entertainment, on our exclusive private property ‘Orn Daa Cliff’ on Norfolk’s western coastline.
Day 7 – Wednesday 01 August 2018 (B, D) Breakfast Bush Walk/Dinner at Castaway Hotel/Sound and Light ShowThis morning take your choice of a stroll through One Hundred Acres Reserve or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5km walk through scenic Mt Bates to Captain Cook Monument. If you prefer not to rise early and bush walk you’ll be picked up a little later and taken to join the walkers at Anson Bay as they return from their walk and where you’ll all enjoy a delicious breakfast barbecue on the clifftop. The rest of the day is at leisure and lunch is own arrangements. Tonight enjoy a 2-course dinner at one of Norfolk’s most popular hotels. After dinner you’ll go on the Sound and Light Show. Nightfall at Kingston brings a different mood to the Convict Settlement. The stillness and the stars are there just as they were before settlers arrived in 1788. With the dramatic use of real life sounds, theatrical lighting and costumed actors, the stillness is broken as Pinetree Tours takes you through the horrifying decades of Norfolk Island’s convict era.
Day 8 – Thursday 02 August 2018 (B, D) Christian Brothers’ Cheese Tour / ‘A Little Bit of Country – A Bit of Shindig’Christian Brothers Cheese Company is a boutique dairy and cheese producer started by two island brothers Glen and John Christian. The two over two hours will take you through a local farm with beautiful ocean views where you’ll meet the milk cows, try the milking machine, see beehives and hear about producing the local honey. A quick visit to the local sawmill is an added bonus. The tour travels to Glen’s house where you sample the range of cheeses with tasty condiments and complementary wine. Enjoy the scenic ocean and valley views from the verandah whilst cheesemaker John gives you an informative talk. Tonight enjoy a second show from your hosts for the week – Graeme, Fortunato, Lucky and Rodney. Firstly dinner at one of Norfolk’s great hotels and then the show will follow.
Day 9 – Friday 03 August 2018 (B) Depart Norfolk 2:30PM – Arrive Sydney 4:25PM /Evening Flight to AdelaideStandard checkout time applies. Pinetree Tours will collect you and transfer you to Norfolk Airport in time for your departure flight. Sydney passengers will say goodbye in Sydney and Adelaide passenger will continue home.
