Day 1 – Wednesday 31 October 2018 (D) Depart Brisbane 9:10AM (Via Singapore)- Arrive Saigon 6:35PMYou will meet your guide on arrival Saigon airport, transfer and check-in to your hotel. Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in southern Vietnam is a sprawling metropolis of ten million people. Formally renamed Ho Chi Minh City in 1975 at the end of the Vietnam-American war, locals still refer to it as Saigon. Tonight will be a light supper at the hotel.
Day 2 Thursday 01 November 2018 (B, D) SaigonToday it’s time to explore Saigon. Transfer to Dong Khoi street, or Rue Catinat as it was known in the time of the French occupation, to discover some of the beautiful French colonial buildings built in the late 19th and early 20th century. Appreciate the splendidly restored exteriors of the Opera House and the former Hotel de Ville which are still two of the finest buildings in Saigon. Continue to visit the landmark Reunification Hall, formerly known as the Presidential Palace - the headquarters of the Saigon Government during the American war. You might like to be dropped at the Ben Thanh markets on the way back to the hotel. The market is a great place to buy local handicrafts, branded goods, Vietnamese art and other souvenirs. Tonight’s welcome dinner will be on-board a Bonsai Cruise. You’ll love the sights of Saigon by night as you travel the river on this dragon boat.
Day 3 – Friday 02 November 2018 (B, L) Mekong DeltaDepart your hotel this morning for a 1.5-hour drive heading south Ben Tre where referred locally as one of the biggest coconut tree orchards in Vietnam. Take in the lush surroundings of rice paddies and fruit farms alongside the highway as you leave behind the busy city. You will stop along the way to discover how Vietnamese farmers work their rice fields and observe daily life of the villagers in the Mekong Delta. Continue discovering the Mekong by cruising the small canals and arroyos lined with palm and coconut trees. Lunch will be served at My Tho, taste some local delicacies before returning to Saigon mid-afternoon. Dinner tonight will be own arrangements.
Day 4 – Saturday 03 November 2018 (B, D) Ho Chi Minh – Hoi AnToday we’ll leave Saigon and take a short flight to Danang. You will meet your guide on arrival Danang airport, transfer and check-in to your hotel in Hoi An. En route visit the Marble Mountains, five sacred hills containing dozens of Buddhist shrines. Situated along the south-central coast of Vietnam, Hoi An is an outstanding example of a well-preserved ancient town that has been designated a World Heritage Site. Today, it is a quaint and picturesque town that can be easily explored on foot. Accommodation: Palm Garden Resort or similar (2 Nights).
Day 5 – Sunday 04 November 2018 (B, D) Hoi AnStart your morning with a leisurely walking tour of Ancient Town. Between the 17th and 19th centuries, Hoi An was a major and prosperous Asian trading port. Hoi An’s architecture and relaxed lifestyle have changed little over the years. The narrow lanes are ideal for a guided leisurely walking tour. The rest of the day is yours to explore at leisure. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel.
Day 6 – Monday 05 November 2018 (B, D) Hoi An - Hue
This morning depart Hoi A for Hue, the guide and driver will take you over the beautiful Hai Van Pass (one of the highest passes in Vietnam) to Hue. Time to stop to visit one of the elaborate mausoleums of Emperors and visit the Imperial Citadel, from where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. Then travel by boat to one of Hue’s best-known religious sites, the Thien Mu Pagoda. An early dinner sampling Hue specialties at a local restaurant before checking into our hotel this evening. Accommodation: Moonlight Hue or similar (1 Nights).
Day 7 – Tuesday 06 November 2018 (B, D) Hue - Hanoi
This morning we’ll check out of our hotel and catch the short flight to Hanoi. Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital city and home to seven million people. Traditional and refined, with French colonial architecture, tree-lined boulevards, scenic lakes and a bustling Old Quarter. You will meet your guide on arrival Hanoi airport, be transferred and check-in to your chosen hotel. Late this afternoon we will hit the streets of Hanoi with a one-hour tour by cyclo, a chauffeur-pedalled tricycle, through Hanoi’s Old Quarter. We’ll then take in a water puppet performance. The art of water puppetry began approximately a thousand years ago and puppeteers stand in waist-high water and manipulate their charges in such a way that you can’t help but be swept up in the legend being told. Dinner tonight will be at a local restaurant. Accommodation: Silk Path Luxury Hotel or similar (2 Nights).
Day 8 – Wednesday 07 November 2018 (B, L) Hoi An
Day 9 – Thursday 08 November 2018 (B, L, D) Halong Bay CruiseYour early morning departure from your hotel in Hanoi to Halong Bay takes you on a journey through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta. Observe everyday life of Vietnamese Villages as you see the villagers work the local rice fields, take live pigs to market on bicycles and plough the fields with their large water buffaloes. Arrive in Halong and board a traditional sailing junk. Accommodation: Victory Cruises or similar (2 Nights).
Day 10 – Friday 09 November 2018 (B, L, D) Halong BayAs the day breaks, you are invited to join a Tai Chi demonstration taking place on the top deck of the vessel. Enjoy a buffet breakfast on the main vessel before being transferred to our day-boat, which will take you to further amazing area of the bay with beautiful islands and long- white- sandy beaches. Depending on weather today you will have the chance to visit the local school and chat to the friendly and welcoming villagers; Or you will cruise to visit one of the largest floating villages in Halong Bay. On the way, visit some famous caves. Kayak, swim, or just enjoy the quiet and splendid setting. Back on the main vessel, relax and enjoy the facilities at leisure.
